Interim President: Michael F. McAuliffe, Esq.

The PBCI Foundation currently is led on an interim basis by Michael McAuliffe. Mr. McAuliffe is a practicing attorney and has significant organizational leadership experience. As interim President of the Foundation, Mr. McAuliffe has overall responsibility for operational matters and also leads the development of the Foundation’s new activities to ensure stability and sustainability.

Education Coordinator: Yvonne Stubbs, R.N.

Yvonne Stubbs is an Oncology Nurse Educator at the Palm Beach Cancer Institute Foundation in West Palm Beach, Florida. She currently works in the Patient Education Resource Center where patients can find the latest web-based information on their disease and current therapies. In her current role as the education coordinator, Ms. Stubbs has numerous responsibilities which include developing and providing education for patients, healthcare providers, and the community in general.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania in 1990. She has 17 years nursing experience, 10 years in oncology and 7 years in critical care. She has previously worked in the areas of chemotherapy infusion, and as the physician’s nurse at the Palm Beach Cancer Institute.

She is certified in oncology nursing and is a national and local member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She is also an advisory board member for Celgene and Wyeth.



Psychotherapist: Patty Liebman, LCSW, OSW-C

Patricia Liebman has worked in the field of oncology counseling for eighteen years and starting her fifteenth year at the cancer institute. She graduated from Barry University with a Masters Degree in Social Work and then proceeded to qualify for licensure. Patricia recently received her OSW-C Certification, a new professional qualification to denote the amount of time and varied activities devoted to oncology counseling.

Ms. Liebman wrote two grants to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and each was accepted. One was to fund a support program called Couples Creating a Supportive Response to Breast Cancer. This program offered newly diagnosed women with breast cancer and their spouses an eight week psycho-educational support program. The program was led by Patricia and a licensed male therapist. The other grant funded the publishing of a workbook co-authored by Ms. Liebman and Ms. Debra Hansen. It was an interactive coloring and response book to encourage a child's understanding of their mother's diagnosis of breast cancer and an avenue to communicate their concerns and feelings.

Patricia was also involved in the inception of the Breast Cancer Survivor Newsletter. She wrote many columns on topics pertinent to the breast cancer diagnosis and treatments.



Genetics Program Coordinator: Cathy Kirvin, RN BSN GCN

Cathryn Kirvin, R.N., the Foundation’s risk-screening counselor, is a registered nurse with over 35 years of experience and holds certifications in nursing, oncology and genetics. Ms. Kirvin has been involved in the field of cancer genetic screening since 1997, when the technology first became commercially available.

Ms. Kirvin has presented seminars at numerous symposiums on cancer and genetics. Ms. Kirvin is a member of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics, Cancer Genetics Group; Oncology Nursing Society, Cancer Genetics Special Interest Group; and a past member of the 2000 Florida Cancer Genetics Network, Steering Committee. She is a graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from C.W. Post College in New York.



In addition to these staff members, numerous members of PBCI work on Foundation matters including Barbara Buckley and Lois Brown. Lastly, the PBCI Foundation has several critical committees of volunteers who give of their time and talents to further the mission and programs of the PBCI Foundation. The current committees are the bio-bank and the integrative therapies initiatives committees.
