The PBCI Foundation provides no cost educational programs for the community and for healthcare providers that focus on cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment. The Foundation’s educational lectures also cover areas of research and the most current strategies aimed at treating and beating cancer. Some of the lectures coincide with a National Cancer Awareness program that is usually promoted on a monthly basis (e.g., September is the Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month).

The Foundation also has a resource center which allows patients with cancer and their family members to obtain specific information about their cancer diagnosis and treatment. An oncology nurse will guide and assist patients in accessing information from multiple sources such as the internet, printed material or medical library. The individual can then discuss the information obtained one-on-one with the resource nurse.

Education

The PBCI Foundation is committed to the health and wellness of the community. Also, the PBCI Foundation sponsors ongoing programs in the community for various audiences including healthcare professionals, the public and specific groups.

Our educational mission is to foster continuing health education and increase the public’s awareness of cancer prevention, detection and treatment.
