They are used to help alleviate stress, reduce pain and anxiety, manage symptoms, and promote a feeling of well-being. Integrative therapies include nutrition/diet counseling and practices, exercise programs, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, yoga and psycho-therapy.

All our therapists are highly trained and certified. They understand that the process of cancer treatment includes promoting health, sustaining strength, and encouraging the mind and body.

When a new patient contacts or is referred to the Sari Center, we match the person with a care coach who is a member of our staff. This signals the start of our relationship with, and commitment to, the patient and the patient’s family to be with them during and after cancer treatment. The care coach helps identify complementary therapies that will be of benefit to the patient, and coordinates these services. The care coach also maintains an ongoing and open communication with the treating physician about the overall treatment plan and all complementary activities. In this way, the patient receives coordinated and caring attention from a team.

Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care

The PBCI Foundation has opened an innovative and much needed Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care. The Sari Center is based on the well-accepted and fundamental principle that to combat cancer, one must treat the whole person and not just a disease. We have designed the Sari Center to enable individuals and families facing cancer to wrap themselves in a caring, supportive environment and to focus on living full lives. We use the concept of a kiva to symbolize the healing and special nature of this process.

We know that cancer patients who address stress, fitness, diet and well-being are able to live better lives during treatment and are able to care for their mind and spirit in addition to the body. Integrative therapies do not replace core and traditional cancer treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, but complement these techniques.

The Sari Asher Center for Integrative Cancer Care is now open.  Call or contact us to visit or for more information.
