PBCI Foundation Board
The Board is comprised of experienced oncologists, cancer survivors, business leaders and individuals active in the community. Currently, the PBCI Foundation has two boards – the governing board and the scientific advisory board.

Robert J. Green, M.D., M.S.C.E
Dr. Green is a board-certified medical oncologist at the Palm Beach Cancer Institute. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke University and completed his residency in internal medicine and an oncology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he also earned a Master of Science degree in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics.
Dr. Green treats all forms of cancer, but has a particular interest and expertise in gastrointestinal malignancies such as colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer and esophageal cancer.
In 1999, he received ASCO's merit award for research of colorectal cancer and received a training grant from the National Cancer Institute.
A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Green is involved in and committed to the local community. He is an executive member of the board of directors of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and on the board of directors of Temple Israel in West Palm Beach and the Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Academy in West Palm Beach. In his spare time, Dr. Green is a pilot, avid runner and marathoner. He is married and is the father of three young children.

Jonathan Satter
Jonathan Satter has a broad and diverse real estate and financial background. Currently he serves as Principal of WGCompass Realty Companies, a regional realty services firm with offices in South and West Florida. Satter also serves as an independent receiver appointed by the civil court system in matters involving real estate assets. Mr. Satter previously served as Vice President and Senior Operations Officer for the management group of one of the nation’s largest real estate investment trusts (REIT) with realty assets exceeding $7 billion. In this position, Satter was directly responsible for the asset and property management, leasing and marketing, brokerage operations, construction, and risk management of a diverse office, retail, and residential portfolio located throughout the United States. Prior to his position in the investment real estate community, Mr. Satter served as Director of Finance for one of the country’s largest specialty development firms. In this position he coordinated financial operations of the firm and served as asset manager for $200 million in office and retail properties around the country.
A graduate of Rollins College with a degree in political science, Satter also received his Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University.
He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of South Florida from 1997-2003, and currently serves as a member of the Board of Governors and Treasurer of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, the Board of Directors of Pathfinders of Palm Beach/Martin County Scholarship Fund, Inc., and a Member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County. In July 2005, and again in September, 2006, Satter was appointed by Florida Governor Jeb Bush to serve as a Commissioner of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
Satter holds the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation from the Building Owner’s and Manager’s Institute, and an SIOR Candidiate from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.
An active traveler, Satter enjoys filling his passport, and caddying for his fiancé, LPGA golfer Michelle McGann.

Mr. Ken Hunter
Ken Hunter is President and CEO of JARI Research Corporation. He was named to this position in October 2005.
Before joining JARI, Mr. Hunter was President and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (BBB). Prior to the BBB, Mr. Hunter had a 35-year career with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). During his postal career he was Associate Postmaster General.
Ken’s USPS career also included seven years as head of the Postal Inspection Service and the Postal Security Action Group of the United Nations Universal Postal Union. These two organizations are responsible for the prevention and investigation of crimes involving the mails, including explosives, poisons, illicit drugs, child pornography, theft and fraud of all types.
Mr. Hunter is passionate about the protection of children. He serves on the Board of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Ken studied at BYU and Colorado University, receiving his B.Sc. in Mathematics from Colorado State University. Mr. Hunter graduated from the Stanford Senior Executive program and has completed additional course work in business-related studies at UVA, Duke and Yale.

Robert Jacobson, M.D., FACP
Dr. Robert J. Jacobson is the Clinical Research Director of Palm Beach Cancer Institute and director of the bone marrow/stem cell transplant program. He is board certified in hematology and hematopathology.
His clinical interests include the use of high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell support for treating malignancies, determining the pathogenesis and clonality of hematopoietic malignancies and the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and blood diseases.
Dr. Jacobson earned his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1966. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland, and hematology fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C.
He joined the faculty of Georgetown University in 1976 and was a professor of medicine and pathology. In 1994, he left Washington to join the Cancer Institute in West Palm Beach.
Dr. Jacobson is a consulting professor at Duke University Medical Center and he is a member of several leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology and the local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America.
He is a member of the board of directors of Hospice of Palm Beach County. Dr. Jacobson is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Ms. Robin Malasky
Ms. Malasky was born and raised outside of Boston and has been living in Florida since she graduated from Skidmore College with a Social Work degree in 1989.
In order to pursue a career in Speech/Language Pathology, Ms. Malasky earned a Masters in Education with a concentration in Exceptional Student Education from Florida Atlantic University in 1997.
Robin has worked with both Adults and Children with Communication Disorders, but her passion lies in working with geriatric adults with speech/language and swallowing disorders.
Ms. Malasky stopped working in October 2004, when she was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer to focus on her health and family. Her cancer was discovered when she was 37 after a routine mammogram and with no family history. Since Robin’s diagnosis, she has become passionate about helping others who are not as fortunate as she was and do not have the support she had while going through her illness.
Ms. Malasky currently serves on the Board of Temple Israel and has been co-chair of School Teams for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for two years. Last year Robin was honored as a local "Komen Warrior" by the Komen Cancer Research Foundation. Robin is married to Steve Malasky and they have two children.

Neal E. Rothschild, M.D.
Dr. Neal E. Rothschild is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University, a graduate of New Jersey Medical School and he completed his residency and fellowships in hematology and medical oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center.
Dr. Rothschild is the chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida, Department of Medicine and consulting associate for the Duke University Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. He serves on the board of directors of the Israel Cancer Association-USA and The Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation.

Dr. Lester Wold
Jari-Research and Mayo Clinic
Les Wold is JARI Research Corporation’s Chief Medical Director. Dr. Wold assumed this position in July 2006. As chief medical director, Dr. Wold plans and directs all aspects of JARI’s medical policies and programs. He is responsible for strategic clinical relationships with physicians and health care providers. He ensures all clinical programs align with JARI’s goals and priorities.
Before joining JARI, Les had a distinguished 25-year career with the Mayo Clinic. Most recently he was professor of pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and emeritus chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
During his illustrious career, Dr. Wold served the Mayo organization as a member of its Board of Trustees and chair of the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. He also served on the Board of Directors of Mayo Health Systems, a network of hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers serving patients in more than 60 communities in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
Les is a recipient of the Mayo Clinic Excellence in Leadership Award. In 2003, the Mayo Foundation honored Dr. Wold with the Geraldine Colby Zeiler Professorship in Cytopathology. Named professorships represent the highest academic distinction for a Mayo Clinic College of Medicine faculty member.
Dr. Wold is a renowned educator and lecturer. He has authored numerous articles and textbooks related to immunocytochemistry, bone tumors and tumor-like conditions, and breast diseases.
Les earned a B.A. in Chemistry from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota; an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York; and an M.D. from the University of Chicago. He did his residency in anatomic pathology / clinical pathology at the Mayo Clinic. He earned an MBA from Augsburg College in 2007.

Daniel Spitz, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Dr. Daniel Spitz is the co-director of the gynecologic oncology program at the Palm Beach Cancer Institute and is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. His research interests have focused on the diseases of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and ovarian cancer.
Dr. Spitz earned his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his fellowship in medical oncology and hematology at New York University and Bellvue Medical Center in New York as an American Cancer Society Fellow. He was also a post-doctoral fellow in immunology at the Irvington House Institute in New York City.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Gynecology Oncology Group, the Palm Beach Medical Society and he has served on the board of directors for the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Cancer Society and the national Medical Advisory Board of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, Palm Beach chapter.
He is presently the cancer liaison from Wellington Regional Hospital to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and was recently appointed Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Claes Wahlestedt
Dr. Wahlestedt currently is the professor of biomedical sciences and director of pharmagenomics at Scripps Research Institute.
From 1997 to his appointment at Scripps, Dr. Wahlestedt served as the founding director of the Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He is also a department chair and professor at the center.
Dr. Wahlestedt received both his medical degree and Ph.D. from Lund University in his native Sweden. He did postdoctoral work at the Georgetown Institute of the Neurosciences at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. (1987-88), and at the Institute for Immunology at Kyoto University, Japan (1988-89).
He then spent four years as assistant professor in the Division of Neurobiology, Department of Neurology and Neuroscience at Cornell University Medical College in New York, and was subsequently adjunct professor of biochemistry, and pharmacology and therapeutics at McGill University, Montreal. He has spent a decade directing drug discovery or genomics efforts in the pharmaceutical industry for Astra-Zeneca, Pharmacia & Upjohn, and Pharmacia Corporation.
This year he was appointed adjunct chief scientist at RIKEN Genomic Sciences Center in Tokyo, Japan. He is the author of more than 150 papers in major scientific journals in his field.
Dr. Wahlestedt and his wife, Lisa, who is also a medical doctor, have two children.
